In Memory of Sam

This
is Flora, Dave's wife and Sam's 'mom'. I just wanted to thank you so
much for bringing Sam into our lives through your rescue. As soon as we
can, Dave and I would like to donate on behalf of Sam's memory.
I can't express enough to you how much Sam meant to us... as we have no
'real' children, Sam and his 'brother' Homer (8 yr old fawn pug) were
the closest we've had to having children. We always called them 'our
boys'. Sam was, essentially.. our first born. :)
Speaking for myself - I fell in love with his spry, patchy self the
moment I saw him. Though Dave was a little skeptical at first (as he
never really gave much thought to the breed), he fell in love with Sam
too, and loved him as much as I did. It still doesn't feel 'real'. I
keep waiting for him to come up to me with his big expectant eyes to
come sit in his 'momma's lap'. As he got older, and couldn't handle
the walks in town all that well.. he even got his own little red 'sport
buggy' that he and his lazy brother would ride around in just so that
they (especially Sam) could be included in the walks.
Chris - Sam was so, so very much loved and cherished. He could hardly
see worth a darn, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with his
hearing when it came to passing cars... he never missed an opportunity
to 'haul ass' and scramble his fat butt into the ether chasing whatever
it was that caught his attention. I'll miss snuggling with him, and
holding him in my lap.. rubbing his belly and him licking my face .
Sigh.. well, I'm going to need to find a kleenex now and wipe my face..
attached are some pix I hope you'll like. I hope we'll always stay in
touch.
Take care, Flora (Dave) Brown
In Memory of Kenji

On September 8, 2009, PRONC lost Kenji, a dear foster pug. She was surrendered to PRONC with a pot belly, no hair, and very little muscle mass. Cushings disease was suspected and diagnosed. Three treatments were tried before one finally started working. Throughout all this and an eye surgery, Kenji was always loveable, fun, and just a wonderful pug to have around. She grew a new soft hair coat, gained muscle and became more playful as she gained energy. And her belly was now due to enjoying a little too much food! Kenji is a wonderful example of PRONC meeting its mission for surrendered pugs as the quality of her last few months of life had been hugely improved. This is a comfort for us who came in contact with her and grew immediately attached. She will be missed. with love and fond memories you Foster Mom, Terry

In Memory of Ellie Scarbrough

My best friend closed her eyes last night,
As her head was in my hand.
The Doctors said she was in pain,
And it was hard for her to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled her in my arms.
Were of her younger, puppy years,
And Oh...her many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart that's filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE's installed a 'doggy-door'!!!
